The other name of Bangkok is Krung Thep. Krung Thep means the city of angels. The worth visiting why it is called the city of angels.

Rattanakosin Island, the landmark of Thailand

Rattanakosin Island is the old town of Bangkok. There are plenty of the most famous of the tourist all over the world such as the Grand Palace, the Wat Phra Kaeo, the Bangkok China Town.

Wat Phra Kaeo is in the same area of the Grand Palace. It is the most important temple of Thailand. It is a temple where the king and the royal family come to celebrate Buddhism ceremonies. It is on the left from the entrance, the Sawatdisopha Gate. The Wat Phra Kaeo consists of many buildings in the same wall. Each buildings are very wonderful of the Thai Fine Arts.

It is opened for the tourists. Visiting time duration 8.30 am – 16.30 pm. Admission fee 500 bht./person.

The Grand Palace is the most important landmark of Thailand. It is on the right bank of the Chao Phraya River. It was built in the reign of the King Rama I. It used to be a resident of the royal families. The late king Rama VIII was the last king who stayed in the grand palace. Nowadays it is used for royal ceremonies and opened for the tourists. The time to visit and admission fee is the same ticket to visit the Wat Phra Kaeo.

Wat Pho is located on the south of the Grand Palace. It was built in the reign of Ayutthaya and was rebuilt in the reign of the King Rama I. It is the most famous one for the tourists. The reclining Buddha and the 4 Chedis of the King Rama I-IV is the famous spot recommend of this temple. The most famous for the tourists of this temple is the Thai Massage. It is the original of Thai Massage School in Thailand and certify by the Thai Medical Department, Public Health Ministry of Thailand.

The National Museum is located in the north of the Grand Palace. It is the museum where is collected many important antiques all over Thailand.

Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn is located on the left bank of the Chao Phraya River, opposite the Wat Pho. There is the most famous Chedi on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. It is an incredible architecture that reflects the wisdom of the Thai Architecture and Engineering in the past.

Loha Prasat, Wat Ratchanatda is located on the Mahachai Road. It is behind the Maha Jetsadabodin Ground. It is 3rd Metal Castel in the world. It was built in the reign of King Rama III.

Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall is the modern museum. It is on the right side of Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue. It is an adjacent area of Laha Prasat. There is a viewpoint on the building that can view the Loha Prasat and the Golden Mount.

The Queen’s Gallery is located on the left side of Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue, opposite the Maha Jetsadabodin Ground. It is on the corner of the Phan Fa Bridge.

The Golden Mount, Wat Sa Ket is located on the Boriphat Road. It is an artificial mountain. There is a golden Chedi on the top of the mount. It is a good rooftop viewpoint of Bangkok.

The Golden Buddha Image, Wat Trai Mit is located in the area of Bangkok China Town. It is the biggest genuine gold Buddha Image in Thailand.

Sampheng, Bangkok China Town, the most famous wholesales shopping is in Bangkok China Town. There are many kinds of products here, gifts, jewelry, accessories, bags, shoes, clothes, etc.

Where to dine in The Rattanakosin

Yaowarat Road, Bangkok China Town is the famous food street of Thailand. It is always crowed every evening with the foreign tourists and local tourists.

Khao San Road, Bang Lamphu is the most famous for backpackers. It was the scene of the film “The Beach” which Leonardo Di Caprio is the actor. There are many restaurant along the sides of this short road.

How to visit the Rattanakosin Island

Travel by train and express boat is the most comfortable. If you stay at the hotel near the train station or the riverside is very perfect. You can get off the BTS at Taksin Station and take an express boat to Tha Chang Pier. The starting place is the Wat Phra Kaeo.

The boat trip in Bangkok is wonderful thing you have to do. There are some routes to visit in many canals along the Chao Phraya River. The hub of tourist boat trip at the Tha Chang Pier.
